So we won our first game last night... 41-11. And given that the girls score 2s and 3s and the guys score 1s and 2s, my friend Killer, my sister, and I score approximately.... one fourth of the points or so:P Hopefully I get better.
Went to the Wellness Center today.
Warm up
2.2 miles at 6.5 miles an hour (little under 20ish minutes)
AVG HR - I think the results were skewed. When I first got the HR monitor it seemed to work fine, but now it slides down when I'm running. Once I looked at it and it was at 129, which is where I'm at when I stand up, or get a little nervous about something.
My guess would be around the high 170s. The treadmill said 164, my HR monitor said 152. Both a little off I would imagine.
I'll have to remedy this somehow.

Summer Seems So Far Away
I wish it was summer. With the BSA never having open gym these days and my extreme dislike for the cold weather and lack of grass and sun, I am getting pretty complacent here in the dorms. But what can you do? I wonder what the statistics are for inactivity in the snowy, cold states compared to the others. Anyway, there's a crapload of stuff I've got to get done this week so I'll get on with it.
Jogged a mile in 9.5 minutes.
AVG HR - 170
Leg Extension - 3x8 (55 lbs)
Leg Press - 3x10 (100 lbs)
Tricep Pushdown - 3x10 (55 lbs?)
Shoulder Press - 3x10 (25 lbs)
My HR usually never gets above 160 when lifting.
15 minutes of abs... balance ball, crunches, stabilizers, etc. Who knows what they're all called.
First intramural basketball game of the semester tonight. I WOULD wear the HR monitor just to see, but I think it'll throw off my game...

So my usual workout partner, a very long legged male specimen, finally got over his pink eye and decided to come lifting with me again on Tuesday. Last post I ran a ten-minute mile on the treadmill, and this time I decided to run a mile with said specimen around the loop. Of course, keeping my dignity and trying to keep up with him, we finished the mile in a little over 7.5 minutes.
AVG HR - 188
Which means, maybe that +/- 12 bpm to the max heart rate holds some truth.
Also lifted light:
Leg Press - 2x10 (100 lbs)
Leg Curl - 2x10 (40 lbs)
Leg Ext - 2x10 (40lbs)
Shoulder Press - 2x10 (25 lbs)
Tricep Pushdown - 2x10 (55 lbs?)
Lat Pulldown - 2x10 (70 lbs?)
Also, I did the resting heart rate while sleeping a while back. Pretty sure it was a good reading.
"True" resting HR - 72
I find I get more accomplished when I workout alone.

Light workout at the Wellness Center today.
10 minute jog @ 6.5
AVG HR - 175
I even did some of those embarrassing stretches around the loop beforehand.
Still sore from my workout earlier in the week so did some abs and got out of there.
Question: Why, on the way to working out, do I take the elevator instead of doing the six flights of stairs? It's beyond me.

The Warm-Up

The Warm-Up
Although not new to the dynamic stretching/warm-up, I did learn a few new ones.
My heart's usually beatin' around 95 or so in class. I got it up to 153 during some sort of twisting, lunging, posing activity, and up to a whopping 183 during the build up to a sprint. Pretty sad, I know. Just goes to show sprinting is not some sort of warm-up activity one should be doing.
More later.

My first blog
So I figured my first blog would be a little more... me. But what can you do? When one is assigned such homework by THE Chuck Fountaine, one must oblige him. Here's to the journey that is HNES 272.
Cheers.
Cheers.
